FRIENDS OF SCIENCE WERE RIGHT ALL ALONG |
May 23, 2009: "Is man-made global warming real?", By Nigel Hannaford, Calgary Herald, Alberta, Canada. "The Friends, in short, made a good case and while I didn't feel qualified to adjudicate it, it seemed to me that somebody who was, should. But, that never happened. Instead, a well-funded global warming lobby steamrollered the world's governments and mainstream media, Canada's among them. Indeed, it became professionally suspect to be a "climate-change denier." Oil companies one might have expected to argue the science, rolled over: Business is business. The provincial government listened, once, but figured they couldn't fight the gathering consensus and in Ottawa, the new Conservative government quickly realized that in any contest between ice-cores and cuddly polar bear cubs, the votes were with the bears." NEW ICSC AFFILIATE TO OPEN IN THE U.S.A. |
|
June 2009: "International Climate Science Coalition Expands in U.S.", by Tom Harris, Executive Director, ICSC, Environment & Climate News, May 2009 "Climate realists in the United States need a new, more effective voice for public education about the realities of climate science. ...That new voice must be known by the public and mainstream media to be nonpartisan and composed of highly reputable climate scientists. It needs to be a single-issue organization able to win the support of those who, outside of the climate debate, may otherwise be ideological opponents. It must be seen as independent from industry, politics, and other vested interests." Read the whole piece. |

AUSTRALIAN CLIMATE REALIST'S BOOK A PUBLIC SENSATION |
|
May 5, 2009: "Hot-air doomsayers" by Ian Plimer, PhD, Professor of Mining Geology, The University of Adelaide; Emeritus Professor of Earth Sciences, The University of Melbourne, Australia, published in The Australian. "The huge number of recent letters tell me that there are winds of change. The average punter has been told for more than two decades that we are all going to fry. He is not stupid and is blessed with a rare commodity missing in many academic circles: common sense.... "To argue that human additions to atmospheric CO2, a trace gas in the atmosphere, changes climate requires an abandonment of all we know about history, archaeology, geology, solar physics, chemistry and astronomy. We ignore history at our peril." Read the whole article. |

May 3, 2009: New video highlights geologists dissenting from climate catastrophism during the 33rd International Geological Congress Oslo 2008 (August 6 - 14, 2008), Oslo, Norway. Watch video here. Watch the complete August 8, 2008 panel discussion here (use IE browser or WM7 Activex control). Segments (min:sec) of special interest include:
7:30 - 9:24; 40:08 - 41:36 and 54:26 - 55:55: Professor Bob Carter of James Cook University, Australia 9:35 - 11:25: Dr. Henrik Svensmark, director, Center for Sun-Climate Research, Danish Space Research Institute 43:25 - 50:40: "Sedimentary geologist from eastern Canada": drought occurs most when Earth is colder, followed by three other geologist climate realists 20:25 - ~25:00: Dr. Nils-Axel Mörner, head of the Paleogeophysics and Geodynamics department at Stockholm University in Sweden and unnamed Indian geologist 17:25 - 20:18: Indian geologist, "Sharia" Systems ecologist who DOES support IPCC viewpoint said, starting at 28:19 in the video - "I want to talk to our representative from government, Ms. Hedegard [Connie Hedegard, Danish Minister of Climate and Energy] about this because I don't feel often like I am watching science. I feel like I am watching six year olds in a sandbox. People have extraordinarily firm beliefs in something about which equally qualified scientists on the other side, or some other point of the issue has, and they speak very strongly and with authority as if they know what the Hell they are talking about when I think almost all of us, and in the 30 years I've been involved with to some degree the CO2 issue, we haven't known for sure. I think there is some humility that we need here and respect for each other that I do not believe I have heard enough of." Excerpts from this panel discussion have been used to refute President Obama's climate change assertions - watch video here. |
