HERE IS THE QUESTION FROM THE PUBLIC:

"Given the 'purpose' of the Carbon tax in principle is to reduce emissions wouldn't we be better off utilising all funds to assist business's reduce their emissions, protect delicate environments more susceptible to climate change, repair those already damaged and be used to fund greener energy supplies?"

HERE IS PM GILLARD'S ANSWER:

Julia Gillard: "money from carbon pricing is being used to help businesses cut their pollution. It is also financing a biodiversity fund and we are investing $10 billion into clean energy investments."
