TIME TO EXPAND THE TENT OF SUPPORTERS OF CLIMATE REALISM |
May 9, 2010: "International Climate Science Coalition Launches Register of Climate Realists" by Tom Harris, Executive Director, ICSC. Published in Environment and Climate News from the Center on Climate and Environmental Policy at The Heartland Institute, Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. "For climate realism to triumph ... will require the vast majority of the public to come to regard AGW concerns as unfounded. This can only happen by quickly expanding the tent of supporters of realistic, science-based climate policies to include citizens of many different political persuasions, social philosophies, and commercial interests." RADIO INTERVIEW WITH ICSC CHAIR PROFESSOR TIM PATTERSON |
July 22, 2010: Interview with Professor Tim Patterson on CKCU FM (93.1) radio (specifically the Geography and Environmental Studies Radio program - see here for description), Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario. Listen to Part 1 here. Listen to Part 2 here. Dr. Patterson gives an overview of the climate science debate, including some of the new discoveries. |

CLIMATEGATE AND OTHER SCIENCE SCANDLES BEING SWEPT ASIDE |
April 24, 2010: "Alarmists keep ringing the bell", by Dr. Richard S. Lindzen, Alfred P. Sloan professor of meteorology, Dept. of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A., published in The Australian. "There are, however, some things left unmentioned about the IPCC claims. For example, the observations are consistent with models only if emissions include arbitrary amounts of reflective aerosols or particles (arising, for example, from industrial sulfates) that are used to cancel much of the warming predicted by the models. Without such adjustments, the observations are consistent with there being sufficiently little warming as to constitute a problem not worth worrying about much." Read whole piece. |

SCIENTISTS ARGUE PRO AND CON ON CLIMATE CRISIS |
April 8, 2010: "Is climate change real?" (a meaningless question since, as ICSC Chair Professor Tim Patterson, points out, "The only constant about climate is change." (Read his testimony before Canada's House of Commons committee) Pro: "Inconvenient, anthropogenic and true", by Mohamed Gad-el-Hak, PhD, Inez Caudill eminent professor of mechanical engineering, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia, U.S.A. Professor Gad-el-Hak has been asked in the follow-up comments to defend his assertion: "The accelerated Earth warming predicted in 1990 was right on the mark when 2000 and 2010 rolled along." Read Professor Gad-el-Hak's whole piece. Con: "Earth is never in equilibrium", by Richard S. Lindzen, PhD, Alfred P. Sloan professor of meteorology, Dept. of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A. "The IPCC claim that most of the recent warming (since the 1950s) is due to man assumed that current models adequately accounted for natural internal variability. The failure of these models to anticipate the fact that there has been no statistically significant warming for the past 14 years or so contradicts this assumption." ICSC SERIES DEBUNKS 'CONSENSUS', SUGGESTS SOLUTION TO ENDING CLIMATE SCARE |
July 7 - 17, 2010: Six part series by Tom Harris, ICSC Executive Director: Part 1: Smoke and mirrors in the climate science debate - Do climate experts really agree that we are causing a climate crisis? Part 2: Yet More Smoke and Mirrors in the Climate Science Game - Do individual scientist members really support the extreme statements of their societies? Part 3: Bafflegab and BS in the climate debate - Do scientific society open letters really say what we are told they say? Part 4: Governments still promote climate fears despite contradictory advice from thousands of experts - Main stream media, and many politicians have a vested interest in maintaining alarm Part 5: Politicizing the climate science debate has boosted alarmism Part 6: Time for a new, inclusive approach to the climate science debate - mudslinging is just helping the climate scare drag on |
